O’Grady RN\, NP\, PhD\nDr. Eileen O’Grady is a certified Nurse Practitioner and Wellness Coach who uses an evidence-based approach with people to reverse or entirely prevent disease. She believes deeply that more attention must be paid to getting us unstuck from lifestyles that do not support wellness. \nShe is an expert on intentional change in adults – with an emphasis on the importance of extreme self-care and how to identify and remedy a life that is out of balance. She is the Founder of The School of Wellness\, which offers programs on revolutionizing self-care. \nShe is currently an adjunct faculty in the Graduate Schools of Nursing at Pace University\, Georgetown University\, Duke University\, and The George Washington University\, where she was given ‘Outstanding Teacher’ Award. \nDr. O’Grady has practiced as a primary care provider for 15 years and has clinical expertise in sports medicine. She has authored numerous articles and chapters on primary care\, orthopedics\, and health policy. Recently\, she edited and authored two textbooks\, Advanced Practice Nursing: An Integrative Approach 6th ed (2018) and Policy and Politics in Nursing and Health Care. She has taught nurses and physicians around the United States as well as around the world with the U.S. Peace Corps. \nDr. O’Grady holds three graduate degrees\, a Master of Public Health from George Washington University\, a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing/Health Policy from George Mason University. She is an International Coaching Federation-Certified Life coach and holds a PCC. She has dual citizenship in Ireland and the United States.

You may use the chat box during the session for questions or comments.\nDial-in Only: You may also call in by phone using the number 1-855-215-5935 (toll free) and enter 20513 as the conference pin number.\n\nAfter the session\, please share your feedback by clicking the button below. \nPlease share your feedback here \n\nPresenter\nRear Admiral (RADM) Sylvia Trent-Adams\, Ph.D.\, R.N.\, F.A.A.N.\nDeputy Surgeon General\nAs Deputy Surgeon General\, Rear Admiral (RADM) Sylvia Trent-Adams advises and supports the Surgeon General regarding operations of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps and in communicating the best available scientific information to advance the health of the nation. She served as the Chief Nurse Officer of the USPHS from November 2013 through May 2016. In this role\, she advised the Office of the Surgeon General and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on the recruitment\, assignment\, deployment\, retention\, and career development of Corps nurse professionals. She also served as acting Surgeon General from April 2017 through September 2017. \nRADM Trent-Adams has held various positions in HHS\, working to improve access to care for poor and underserved communities. As a clinician and administrator\, she has had a direct impact on building systems of care to improve public health for marginalized populations domestically and internationally. \nPrior to joining the Office of the Surgeon General\, RADM Sylvia Trent-Adams was the Deputy Associate Administrator for the HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB)\, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). She assisted in managing the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009 (Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program). The $2.3 billion program funds medical care\, treatment\, referrals and support services for uninsured and underserved people living with HIV disease as well as training for health care professionals. \nRADM Trent-Adams began her career in the Commissioned Corps of the USPHS in 1992. She has published numerous articles\, participated in research studies\, and presented to a variety of domestic and international organizations and professional groups. Prior to joining the USPHS\, RADM Trent-Adams was a nurse officer in the U.S. Army. She also served as a research nurse at the University of Maryland. RADM Trent-Adams also completed two internships in the U.S. Senate where she focused on the prospective payment system for skilled nursing facilities and scope of practice for nurses and psychologists. She has served as guest lecturer at numerous universities across the country. Her clinical practice was in trauma\, oncology\, community health\, and infectious disease. She has also served as the Chair of the Federal Public Health Nurse Leadership Council\, and the Federal Nursing Service Council. \nRADM Trent-Adams received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hampton University\, a Master of Science in Nursing and Health Policy from the University of Maryland\, Baltimore\, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Maryland\, Baltimore County. She recently received the University of Maryland’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. She became a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in 2014. \nRADM Trent-Adams received numerous awards for her leadership and contributions to the field of nursing. She is the recipient of the American Nursing Credentialing Center’s HRH Princess Muna Al Hussein Award\, the American Academy of Nursing’s Civitas Award\, the American Association of the Colleges of Nursing’s Lois Capps Luminary Policy Award and recently the recipient of the International Red Cross Florence Nightingale Medal\, the highest international honor bestowed upon a nurse.

Shlosser\, DNP\, APRN\, FNP-BC\, PMHNP-BC\nHeather Shlosser is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Frontier Nursing University. Dr. Shlosser has authored several book chapters with a psychiatric focus as well as alternative care models in primary care. She is board certified as both a family nurse practitioner and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Her clinical focus is integrated behavioral medicine within primary care and specialty medicine serving patients across the lifespan. Dr. Shlosser has special interests in telepsychiatry\, addictions medicine\, motivational interviewing and mindfulness therapy. Her clinical experience includes full-scope primary care and outpatient psychiatric care. Dr. Shlosser earned her undergraduate degree in nursing from the Elms College in Massachusetts\, a Master of Science degree from Frontier Nursing University\, a Post Master’s of Science from the University of Virginia\, a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Virginia and is currently working on a Post Graduate Certification in Higher Education Leadership. She lives in New Hampshire with her husband and their two children.
