Speakers

Dr. Lisa Chappell

Lisa Chappell, PhD, FNP-BC is the Associate Dean of Family Nursing since January 2014. She has worked as faculty at Frontier Nursing University since January 2009.

Dr. Chappell has been a nurse for 40 years including 20 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University, a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Alabama in Birmingham as a Maternal-Infant Nurse Specialist and a second MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned a PhD in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in 2007.

Her clinical practice experience as a nurse practitioner includes rural clinics, emergency medicine, student health, a psychiatric facility, and correctional medicine. Dr. Chappell has 17 years of teaching experience mostly at the graduate level with nurse practitioners.

Dr. Irma Jordan

Irma Jordan, DNP, FNP/PMHNP-BC, FAANP is a graduate of University of Tennessee Health Science Center (BSN, 1998, MSN, 1999 & DNP, 2010) and joined Frontier Nursing University as a faculty member in 2015. Dr. Jordan is currently the Clinical Director for Family Nursing. She is dually certified as a family and psychiatric nurse practitioner and has taught in both programs while at UTHCS. A particular focus of her dual role is the integration of mental health care into the family practice setting. To this end Dr. Jordan developed the first integrated practice for persons with mental health disorders in the primary care setting. Dr. Jordan was awarded a Practice Incentive Grant by the Tennessee Department of Health for Fayette County and has served on the Regional Health Council for West Tennessee.

She is an active member of the American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Association, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, and National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty. Her current scholarship accomplishments included author of a textbook chapter on Schizophrenia and numerous presentations at local and national meetings. Dr. Jordan was recognized for her contributions and commitment to the nurse practitioner profession by The American Academy of Nurses Practitioner, including the 2014 NP Excellence Award for the state of TN in 2014, and inducted as Fellow in the Academy in 2012.
